Cross Country Meet 1 & Terry Fox Run

CROSS COUNTRY SOUTH QUALIFIER RACE:
What a day at the races! Although the weather wasn’t ideal for racing we had a wonderful day at Ashbridges Bay with the grade 1-6 runners from both schools yesterday.

Thank you to all of the parents who braved the weather to help out and volunteer. We couldn’t have done it without you!

Official results will be communicated to grade 3-6 students who qualified as soon as we receive them. The next race (grade 3-6 only) will take place on October 13th.

TERRY FOX RUN:

On Thursday, October 5th both schools will be holding the Annual Terry Fox run! All classes will participate in the afternoon in 50 minute sessions. We will stay on the track in the school yard and ask that students come dressed for the weather and appropriately to run on Thursday. We are asking for donations from students, just a ‘toonie for Terry’ that will be collected by homeroom teachers. Funds will be donated to the Terry Fox foundation. Thank you in advance, looking forward to a great afternoon!

Curriculum Night this Thusday

CURRICULUM NIGHT

Thursday, September 28, 2017

6:30 – 7:30 p.m.

Please join us to meet your child’s teacher and classroom.

  • Curriculum Night gives you an opportunity to meet your child’s teacher and find out:
    • what your child will learn this year
    • classroom expectations and routines
    • what you can do to help your child succeed at school.
  • We have two sessions to allow parents of siblings to visit both rooms.

Session A –  6:30 to 7:00 p.m. Go to your child’s classroom
Session B – 7:00 to 7:30 p.m. Go to your other child’s classroom (if needed)

This evening is intended for parent information, not individual interviews.

You are welcome to make an appointment for another time if you wish to speak to the teacher about your child’s progress.

We regret that due to the size of the combined schools, we are unable to offer childcare.

OPAL Play Day Monday June 26, 2017

On Monday June 26, 2017, da Vinci and Lord Lansdowne will be having an OPAL Play Day.

Students will be going outside to play according to a schedule being created by the OPAL Lead Team. We are asking that parents ensure students are prepared for outdoor play that day (e.g. hat, sunscreen, bottle of water etc.), including having a change of clothes, as there will be water play.

Bike, Walk & Roll Event – Thanks and highlight video

Thanks to everyone who came out this morning for our annual Bike, Walk and Roll to School event. The rain held out it was great fun for all. Thanks to U of T’s Bike Chain for providing bike tune-ups, to Riders Cycle and Board for the super obstacle course and to our Community Officers for teaching us about road safety. Thank you as well as to the many local businesses, including Carmen’s City Market, Starbucks, Blue Banana, Wanda’s Pie in the Sky, Second Cup, and Sweet Pete’s, who supported the event through donations of food and raffle items.

Finally, a big shout out to Sarah Warden and the many parent volunteers who brought snacks and helped set up, run, and clean up the event.

What a great celebration of sustainable and healthy transportation!
