As you are aware, the intersection of Spadina and College will be closed for construction from April 6 to April 27, 2015. Signs have been posted for drivers for the past month or more. Please check the reverse side for a map of the road closures.
This closure will have a serious impact on all traffic in the area – whether you travel by streetcar, TTC, school bus, bike, walk or drive. Signs on College and Spadina will read ‘Road closed; local traffic only’ and barrel barriers will close off College at Robert St.
Spadina will be closed southbound at Russell. If you drive up Robert St, you will have to go around Spadina Circle northbound.
Please allow extra time to get to school in the morning, and at afternoon pickup. We encourage you and/or your child to walk or cycle to school, now that spring is here, in order to reduce congestion and delays.
We have been in close contact with the TDSB Transportation Department , the City Transportation Department, our local councillor and Toronto Police Services to protect student safety. No traffic will be redirected to either Robert or Russell St; neither cyclists nor motor vehicles. However, we have been told to anticipate snarls and delays, particularly for the first week.
Please remind your children about the road closure. Please reinforce that they must STOP and LOOK ALL WAYS at every intersection before crossing.
A reminder that the school is closed Friday, April 3 and Monday, April 6 for the holidays.
Ted and I wish all of you a happy and restful long weekend with family and friends.
